Approved Inspectors Ltd are a Registered Building Control Approver (RBCA) with offices in Lancashire, Cheshire, Manchester and the Midlands.  We provide a regulatory service for clients undertaking a range of building work from small domestic extensions through to large commercial building schemes. 

We are looking for Registered Building Inspectors (minimum Class 2a) to work with our Manchester team (ideally available to cover the South Manchester region).

Main Duties

  • Day to day management of assigned workload.
  • Liaising with dutyholders.
  • Undertaking design stage assessments for the purpose of checking compliance with any requirement of the building regulations which is applicable to the work.
  • Undertaking site inspections (in person and remote) for the purpose of checking compliance with any requirement of the building regulations which is applicable to the work.
  • Assist with business development, networking and marketing.

Our full time hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, worked Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.  Until December 2025 we are trialing a 33.75 hour working week (Monday – Thursday 9.00am – 5.00pm, Friday 9.00am – 12.45pm) which all employees are eligible to partake in (results of the trial are due to be announced in December 2025).

What We’re Looking For

You will be a team player with a focus on service excellence. You will need to demonstrate a proactive approach to plan assessment and site inspection work, checking compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation.

You must be a self- motivated, professional surveyor with proven experience in Building Control (at least 2 years) and registered at a minimum of Class 2a.  You will have appropriate degree level study but applicants with equivalent qualifications or substantial experience in the construction sector will also be considered.

You will have a mileage allowance option of either:

  • a mileage rate of 45p/mile (first 10,000 miles, 25p/mile thereafter) with no additional car allowance or
  • a mileage rate of 20p/mile plus car allowance of £300 per month (£3600 per annum) which will be paid at the same time as your basic salary (and subject to the usual deductions).
