Water Consumption Calculation

The potential consumption of wholesome water by persons occupying a new dwelling must not exceed 125 litres per person per day and this is calculated in accordance with the Water Efficiency Calculator for New Dwellings.
This regulation applies to a dwelling which is:
(a) erected
(b) formed by a material change of use of a building to a dwelling.

The Water Efficiency Calculator for New Dwellings guidance document sets out the water calculation methodology for assessing the ‘whole-house’ water efficiency of new dwellings.

Approved Inspectors use this calculation method to assess compliance against the water performance targets set out in current building regulations (17 K).
